Since the advent of the social media era, a collective illusion known as "Omniscience" has emerged. Ye Liu attempts to recreate this illusion using a barcode scanner.
This is an interactive video installation. I aim to establish a connection between a barcode scanner and the omnipresence of TikTok videos, explicitly highlighting the consumeristic nature of short videos. You can scan any barcode on the table, and the program will use the keywords associated with the item to fetch a random video from TikTok, displaying it on the projection interface. Simultaneously, a second vertically oriented screen will generate a unique advertising slogan based on the keywords of the scanned item.
🤖 I regard AI-generated text as a tool that can maximally extend the process of "scanning 👉 converting 👉 text" for any object.
The audience can scan the barcode of any item they carry.
I hope this can, to a certain extent, make this work an actual "decoder" that can be practically used, rather than just a temporary art installation.
